COTABATO CITY – Four suspects have been charged for the July 10, 2019 murder of a Kidapawan City radio broadcaster staunchly critical of the controversial KAPA money market scheme.
Acting Kidapawan City prosecutor Mariam April Mastura-Linsangan found probable cause and charged Dante Tabusares, alias “Bong Encarnacion” and “Junell Jane”; Andagkit Poten, Hilario Cavan Lapi Jr., and Sotelo Jacolbe Jr. with the murder of Brigada FM station anchorman Eduardo Dizon before a regional trial court last Sept. 18.
Investigation conducted by the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFMS) showed that Dizon was on his way home when gunmen on a motorcycle shot him while inside his car, killing him on the spot last July 10.
Days before the ambush-slay, Dizon and fellow broadcaster-wife Madonna had reported to the Kidapawan City police office that pro-KAPA media workers, led by Tabusares, threatened to harm him for his commentaries against the KAPA operations in the city and North Cotabato, according to PTFMS documents.
PTFMS chief Joel Sy Egco and Presidential Communications Operation Office Secretary Martin Andanar presented to Manila media suspect Lapi and alleged eye-witness Renato Sardoncillo, who confessed about their knowledge of the alleged conspiracy to assassinate Dizon.
In their confessions, Lapi said he personally heard Tabusares ordering the ambush plan in an earlier meeting, while Sardoncillo said he saw the actual fatal shooting of Dizon on the night of July 10 at a Kidapawan City road junction. (Ali Macabalang)
