A 68-year-old lawyer and retired member of the Philippine National Police was gunned down in front of his house in Muntinlupa City yesterday.
Police Senior Master Sgt. Mark Sherwin Forastero, case investigator, identified the victim as Jesus Acpal.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 1:05 a.m.
Police said that Acpal, together with his son, had just arrived at their home on board a black Toyota Fortuner from watching a movie.
Acpal alighted from the vehicle to open their gate.
Two men suddenly appeared out of nowhere and shot Acpal multiple times before fleeing. The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds, killing him instantly.
A concerned citizen called for police assistance after the incident.
Members of the Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives recovered spent shells of a caliber. 45 handgun, one fired bullet, and one metallic fragment in the crime scene. (Jean Fernando and Dhel Nazario)
