Malacañang yesterday welcomed the survey showing high public satisfaction with the government’s campaign against illegal drugs, saying it was “a loud and clear repudiation of the incorrigible opposition and vocal detractors” of the administration.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said the people have spoken about the anti-drug campaign and felt the genuine change brought about by President Duterte’s leadership.
“We welcome the results of the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations which shows that 82 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the Duterte Administration’s campaign against illegal drugs. We further note that this excellent satisfaction rating on the government’s campaign against prohibited narcotics remains unchanged from the pre-election survey taken last March 2019 on the aforesaid issue,” he said.
“This is once again a loud and clear repudiation of the incorrigible opposition and vocal detractors of the President and his administration who continue to spread lies and taint the reputation of the current government,” he said.
He said the survey results also serve as a refutal against countries “who unceasingly make an affront against our sovereign state by expressing their pretended concern but failing to consider the preference of the Filipino people in addressing the social problem.”
The SWS survey showed 82 percent of respondents were satisfied with the government’s campaign against illegal drugs while 12 percent were dissatisfied and six percent were undecided, for a net satisfaction rating of +70, which the pollster has classified as “excellent.”
The respondents explained they were satisfied with the anti-drug campaign because it has reduced the number of drug suspects.
Buoyed by the latest survey results, Panelo urged government’s detractors to take cue from the people and learn to appreciate the President’s efforts in building a safe and progressive nation. (Genalyn Kabiling)
