The entire country may experience warm and humid mornings in the next few days with the weakening of the rain-inducing southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the habagat has slightly weakened but may still affect some parts of Northern Luzon.
However, warm and humid weather in the morning will be the prevailing condition in the next two to three days.
There is no tropical cyclone or low-pressure area that is prevailing inside the country’s area of responsibility as of yesterday.
Although the habagat has weakened, Mendoza said sudden heavy rains or thunderstorms are still possible in the afternoon or evening that may cause flash floods in low-lying areas or landslides in mountainous regions.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas may still prevail over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, particularly over Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, northern coast of Ilocos Norte, and Isabela.
PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea craft not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels were asked to take extra precaution against big waves. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
