TIAONG, Quezon – A barangay chairman was gunned down in Sitio Silangan, Barangay Behia, this town, last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Ildefonso de Vero Belda, 55, chairman of Barangay Behia.
Investigation showed that the victim was standing in front of his friend’s house at around 8:30 p.m. when a man appeared and opened fire at Belda.
The suspect fled on foot while Belda was taken to the United Doctor’s Hospital in Candelaria, this province, but was later transferred to Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.
However, he was declared dead due to multiple bullet wounds.
Police are conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the killer’s identity and motives. (Danny Estacio)
