CAMP OLA, Albay – The chief of the Civil Security Unit of the Camarines Sur provincial capitol was gunned down in Barangay San Felipe, Naga City last Thursday.
Police Major Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 5, identified the victim as Jose Francisco Musa, 50, who was a former jail warden of Tinangis, Pili, Camarines Sur.
According to Calubaquib, initial investigation revealed that the victim was sitting in front of his residence when a man wearing black jacket and maong pants appeared and shot him thrice.
The suspect fled onboard a vehicle while the victim was rushed by his wife to Mother Seton Hospital. Calubaquib said the victim died while being treated at the hospital.
A person of interest in the incident was arrested by police around 3 a.m. yesterday in Pili.
Calubaquib identified him as Elmer T. Nelmida, 58, a retired Army soldier and a former member of CSU Camarines Sur capitol. Nelmida was allegedly fired from his job by the victim.
The suspect denied killing his former boss but admitted that Musa fired him from his work last May. (Nino Luces and Ruel Saldico)
