CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS CITY, Cavite – Two persons were injured in a multiple collision involving six vehicles – three trucks, a car, and two private shuttle buses – on Governors’ Drive in Barangay Mabuhay, this city, yesterday.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office reported that the driver and helper of a dump truck involved in the incident sustained minor injuries and were brought to the Carmona Public Hospital.
The incident happened at 5:20 a.m.
Investigation showed that the dump truck was bound for Biñan City, Laguna when it lost its brakes and collided with a shuttle bus.
A tractor-trailer truck (NAK 2057), a Suzuki Ertiga car (UF-4279), an Isuzu truck (ADK 1810), and another shuttle bus got entangled in the collision.
Police said that a fire broke out from dump truck and spread to the five other vehicles.
The drivers and passengers of the five vehicles were able to escape.
Responding firefighters from the Carmona Bureau of Fire Protection put out the fire.
Police Major Jonathan Abuel Asnan, chief of the Cavite PPO Operations Branch, citing a report from the Carmona police, identified the injured as Doy Yanga Espiritu, driver; and Edmond Cornelio Lauitiya, helper, both of Porac, Pampanga.
The area is known to be accident prone.
Rommel Peneyra, head of the Carmona Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the incident caused heavy traffic in the area. All lanes have been cleared and passable.
