Police on Friday seized about P1.3-million worth of suspected shabu from four alleged big-time drug peddlers in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City.
Police Col. Moises Villaceran Jr., city police chief, identified the suspects as Mario Bien, alias “Mar,” 51; Renesar Bernardo, alias “Esar,” 26; Erwin Cruz, alias “Win,” 27; and Sigwald Perolina, alias “Sig,” 33, all residents of Pasig.
Villaceran said the suspects have been in the illegal drug trade for years. He added that Bien was included in the Pasig police drug watchlist and has been the prime target of the city police for some time.
He said Bien was pinpointed by his drug runner who was earlier arrested by the police in a separate drug sting in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig a week ago.
The alleged runner negotiated with Bien through his cellphone where he was told that a buyer wanted to purchase illegal drugs. Bien agreed to meet the supposed customer but little did he knew that he was already dealing with the police.
Combined teams of the Station Intelligence Unit, Station Drug Enforcement Unit, and Station Operations Unit prepositioned themselves near the parking lot of a fast food chain in Barangay Malinao at around 9 p.m.
Villaceran said the four suspects arrived onboard a red Toyota Innova. The police poseur-buyer boarded the suspect’s vehicle and conducted the deal.
The suspects were arrested moments after receiving the P300,000 marked money.
Villaceran said 200 grams of suspected shabu worth about P1.3 million were seized from the suspects.
The suspects are now detained and will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, he said. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
