RIZAL, Laguna – A 30-year-old mother under the influence of drugs suffocated her five-year-old daughter using a pillow before stabbing her eldest child 26 times with a pair of scissors inside their house in Barangay Tuy, this town, Tuesday.
Police Captain Lindley Tibuc, twon police chief, said the suspect, Ana Loraine Medalla, 30, admitted that she sniffed shabu before she attacked her two daughters — five-year-old Catherina and 11-year-old Keisha Kayle.
Catherina died while Keisha Kayle was still under observation at the Rizal Infirmary as of Tuesday afternoon.
Medalla was arrested in her house at Viriña Subdivision, Barangay Tuy, after the victims’ relatives called the police and reported the incident which happened at around 7:45 a.m..
Responding policemen found Catherina unconscious and Keisha bloodied inside their bedroom.
The girls were rushed to the hospital but Catherina was declared dead on arrival due to suffocation.
Probers learned that the father of the victims is working abroad.
According to police, the suspect was hallucinating when she committed the crime.
Medalla is now detained at the lock-up cell of Rizal police station and will be charged with parricide. (Danny Estacio)
