BACOLOD CITY – The Army 94th Infantry Battalion in Negros Oriental reported that suspected New People’s Army allegedly killed a government rescue truck driver in Sitio Panangan, Barangay Candabong, Manjuyod, Negros Oriental last Saturday.
Slain was Artilano Gomez of Barangay Tupas, Manjuyod.
Police investigation showed that Gomez was eating breakfast in an eatery when four unidentified armed men called him.
When the victim left the eatery, he was shot by the assailants, who were armed with firearms of unknown caliber, a report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office said.
Gomez succumbed to a bullet wound in the head.
The 94th IB strongly condemned the unlawful act of the communist NPA terrorists.
“They always claim to be the true protectors of the people, but they are doing exactly the opposite. They were the ones putting burden on to the lives of the people,” the Army said. (Glazyl Masculino)
