BACOLOD CITY – A man who allegedly killed and raped a two-year-old girl in Dauin, Negros Oriental last Tuesday was arrested in Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental last Friday, three days after the incident happened.
Arrested was Modesto Padeño Jr., 32, of Barangay Maayong-Tubig, Dauin.
Padeño was tagged in the brutal killing of the child after he was identified by the witnesses to be the last person seen with the victim.
The child was found in a grassy area in Barangay Maayong-Tubig, few meters away from the suspect’s house, two days after she was reported missing by her parents.
The child went missing just a week after her second birthday.
Based on the autopsy report, the victim was raped, police said.
Police said the victim’s pajamas and traces of bloodstains were found at the suspect’s house but Padeño was not at home. (Glazyl Masculino)
