Two Pasay City policemen are now facing dismissal from the service after they were caught collecting P100 each from bus and and passenger van drivers in a transport terminal in Malibay district.
Police Col. Ronald Lee, newly-installed director of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), said the two cops were arrested in an entrapment operation.
He identified them as Police Corporal Reynald Macwes and Police Corporal Jimuel Ilagan, both assigned to the Police Community Precinct 7 of Pasay City Police Station.
“This operation was conducted because of the intelligence packet developed by the Intelligence Group that the arrested suspects, onboard patrol car were collecting 100 pesos grease money from public utility buses and vans plying daily trips from transport terminals within Malibay area of Pasay City,” said Lee.
The IMEG then mapped out an entrapment and at around 2 p.m., the two were arrested after one of them was caught receiving the P100 grease money.
“These policemen have been the subject of derogatory reports for alleged extortion activities,” said Lee.
The two erring cops are under the custody of IMEG for documentation and proper disposition prior for the filling of appropriate criminal and administrative charges.
The IMEG, first created as Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF), has arrested more than 100 policemen for extortion activities, which mostly involved drug suspects.
The anti-scalawag police force also killed at least seven policemen who were mostly involved in illegal drugs trade.
