Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has signed an ordinance requiring all residential and commercial establishments in Manila to maintain cleanliness and orderliness of their immediate surrounding and frontage.
Domagoso signed Ordinance 8752 or the “Tapat Ko, Linis Ko” measure which bars dumping of trash and waste products on the road which may obstruct vehicles and pedestrians.
Under the memorandum, the hanging of clothes on electrical wires, windows, posts, and other places not intended for the purpose is prohibited.
Washing and drying of clothes on gutters, sidewalks, streets, alleyways, and roads were also not allowed.
Leaving and dumping of trash and leaving the animals to defecate outside one’s property were also banned.
A special permit is also needed on the use of roads on a temporary basic for public purpose.
A technical working group will also be created such as the Committee on Barangay Affairs, Engineering and Public Works, Environmental Protection, Ecological Preservation, and Sanitation and Laws and Health.
Those who will violate the ordinance will receive a warning on his first offense, a fine of P500 on the second, P1,000 fine on the third, and P3,000 on the fourth offense.
The fine for the fifth and succeeding offense will be P5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 30 days. (Erma Edera)
