A low-pressure area (LPA) east of the country has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and may bring rains over the eastern sections of the country this weekend.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA was estimated at 940 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur yesterday morning.
So far, the LPA is less likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone, Aurelio pointed out.
However, the weather disturbance will likely bring rains over Bicol region and eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies and light rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Isabela, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Aurora.
The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
By tomorrow, PAGASA said the LPA will start to traverse the Southern Luzon-Visayas area. Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
