BACOLOD CITY – A former policeman was arrested in a buy-bust operation inside a pension house in Barangay 32 here last Saturday.
Arrested was former Police Corporal Christian Ian Dingcong, 44, of Barangay Mansilingan here, who was previously assigned at the Bacolod Police Station 2.
Seized from Dingcong were 15 sachets of suspected shabu worth P70,000, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.
Police Major Jovil Sedel, head of the city Police Station 1, said Dingcong entered the police service in 1997 and was dismissed in 2012 for being Absent Without Official Leave.
Sedel said they have been monitoring Dingcong for four months after receiving information about his illegal drugs activity.
The suspect would usually transfer from one place to another, Sedel said.
Sedel said the suspect alleged that he used to work for a former town mayor in Panay and returned to Bacolod after the politician was defeated in the elections.
Dingcong is now detained at Police Station 1 and faces drug charges. (Glazyl Masculino)
