IS hot sex enough to sustain a marriage?
This is the question asked in “The Annulment,” director McArthur Alejandre’s latest film as produced by Regal Entertainment Inc., starring Lovi Poe and Joem Bascon.
Suffice it to say that it has sex scenes galore, some of which McArthur described as “very raw.”
He said, “This is a conscious decision on my part kasi I want the whole thing to be realistic. Sure, very cinematic pa rin siya in most parts pero kailangan kasi maitawid ‘yung desire ng mga bida ko sa isa’t isa in a way na para talaga silang young couple na totally into each other, sexually.”
“The Annulment” follows the story of Sherwin (Joem) and Gari (Lovi), a couple caught in passionate romance ultimately leading to them happily tying the knot.
Apparently, it was too soon.
They will both find themselves ill-equipped to handle the challenges that come with the commitment and Gari wants out.
Will Sherwin be able to save their marriage?
Said Lovi of the film, “It is really quite interesting, lalo na for people who are in a relationship and are thinking of marriage.”
Lovi acknowledged the sex scenes in the film are some of the hottest she has ever done.
But she was quick to add, “I’m not saying people should watch it for that. We’re not doing the love scenes just for the heck of doing love scenes. It was more about showing different stages of love, like honeymoon stage, making love when you’re angry or when you’re bored, different stages of love…”
As to the issue of annulment, Lovi said, “Actually, marami akong natutunan. Kaya ako ngayon, more than ever, I’m not jumping into marriage just because society dictates it. Marriage is only an option when you find the right person. At the end of the day, you’re the one in a relationship, you’re the one who’s gonna be living that life with that other person. You have to make the right choice before committing yourself to someone.”
“So, I don’t know if annulment is the best alternative if eventually nag-falter ‘yung relationship. I’m not going to be pro or against it kasi iba iba naman ‘yung sitwasyon ng mga tao na naghahain ng annulment, eh. At the end of the day, I think, the bottomline is, when you enter a relationship, you should try to make it work talaga. But when there are things na talagang hindi mo na maaayos then I think you should consider it. Nasa taong involved talaga ‘yun.”
Also starring Myrtle Sarrosa, JC Tiuseco, Laurah Lehmann, Dianne Medina, Erika Padilla, Nikka Valencia, Manuel Chua, Nico Antonio, Matt Daclan, Jon Leo, Naya Amore with Johnny Revilla and Ana Abad Santos, “The Annulment” opens in ci-nemas on Nov. 13. (NEIL RAMOS)
