CAMP OLA, Legazpi City, Albay – A construction worker, a security guard, and a soldier were killed while four other persons were wounded in a shooting incident in Naga City Tuesday.
Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Ronald Ocares, 42, a construction worker; and Moises Onoya, security guard, and both residents of Barangay Balatas, Naga City, and Leo Jeremias, 40, assigned at the 9th Infantry Division in Pili, Camarines Sur, and a resident of Green Acres Subdivision, Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City.
Wounded were Richard Directo, 21, security guard and a resident of Zone 1, Baragay Salvacion, Tigaon, Camarines Sur; Francisco Moronia, 27, a resident of Zone 1, Barangay Cararayan, Naga City; Silvestre Villareal, 26, security guard; and Joseph Rey Pasit, 23, also a security guard and a resident of San Jose St., Goa, Camarines Sur.
Initial investigation showed the victims were constructing a fence near the Eternal Garden Cemetery around 9:25 p.m. when the gunman Leo Jeremias arrived and approached them.
Calubaquib said that Jeremias drew his caliber Glock 17 9mm pistol and shot the victims simultaneously, killing Onoya and Ocares.
Police Col. Felix Servita, Naga City police chief, said that the security guards managed to return fire, killing Jeremias. (Nino Luces)
