Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools in the city on Thursday, October 31, in preparation for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Domagoso also said local government work in Manila is likewise suspended.
The work suspension is contained in the Executive Order 48 signed by the mayor.
“There is a need to give government officials and employees of the City and public and private school students at all levels within the City of Manila sufficient time to prepare for the observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day,” the EO read.
There is also “a need to give them ample time to travel to and from the different regions nationwide to celebrate with their families,” it added.
However, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Department of Engineering and Public Works, Department of Public Services, the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, Manila Health Department, and six city-owned hospitals should continue operations as they are involved in the delivery of basic and health services.
