Neophyte Sen. Bong Go yesterday challenged Vice President Leni Robredo to accept the offer of President Duterteto to be his anti-drug czar.
“I am challenging Vice President Leni Robredo. Accept it Ma’am. Why don’t you give a try. Maybe you can solve (the country’s drug problem) it in six months. We will see, now you’re given the chance to see the job of a President,” Go said.
Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, stressed that he and the President remain firm in their fight against criminality, illegal drugs, and corruption.
“I and President Duterte will continue the campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, and criminality. We are committed until the end, to the last day of our terms, we will do everything for the good of the Filipinos,” he added.
Last Monday, Duterte offered to give Robredo law enforcement powers to deal with the intractable illegal drugs problem within the next six months.
The President made the offer after being miffed by Robredo’s statement that his three-year bloody drug war is a dismal failure.
She declined to comment on Duterte’s offer, saying she was unsure whether he was serious. (Mario Casayuran)
