Two low-pressure areas inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility are likely to bring more rains over some parts of Luzon and most of Visayas and Mindanao today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of the two weather disturbances at 135 kilometers east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte and 185 kms west of Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte yesterday morning.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Aurora, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, Sorsogon, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Residents in these areas, especially in areas struck by earthquakes in Mindanao, should remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorm activity.
The LPA near Surigao del Norte will likely traverse the Visayas-Northern Mindanao on its way to Palawan and the West Philippine Sea. Mendoza said the LPA west of Zamboanga del Norte may continue to brings rains over most of Visayas and Mindanao in the coming days.
As of yesterday, both weather disturbances have a minimal chance of developing into tropical cyclones. However, the public should continue monitoring these weather disturbances for significant updates.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to prevail over Northern Luzon.
PAGASA said Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino will experience cloudy skies with light rains. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
