Game Monday
(Olivarez College gym, Parañaque City)
12 noon – University of Batangas vs Olivarez College
University of Batangas and Olivarez College dispute the remaining final berth when they clash in the rubber match of their semis series Monday in the PG Flex Linoleum-Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City.
The 12 noon encounter is expected to be more intense than their previous game as the third-ranked UB Brahmans are determined to complete the reversal against the second-seeded Olivarez Sea Lions.
Bannered by JJ Caspe and Raoul Yemeli, the Brahmans forged the knockout match with a thrilling 89-80 win over the Sea Lions in the opener of their semis series exactly a week ago.
The winner of the rubber match secures the right to face top seed and defending champion Diliman College in a best-of-three title series beginning this Thursday and will be aired on Solar Sports on a delayed basis.
Both Diliman and Olivarez earned twice-to-beat privileges in the semis for finishing 1-2 in the two-phase elims with 9-1 and 8-2 marks.
Getting a huge lift from Robbi Darang, the Blue Dragons outlasted the fourth-ranked Centro Escolar University Scorpions, 64-63, to claim the first finals berth.
UB is gunning for a first-ever finals stint while Olivarez is looking for a third finals appearance in the tournament now on its fourth season.
Apart from Caspe and Yemeli, also expected to deliver the goods for UB are Don Tabol and Mart de Ramos.
Caspe and Yemeli finished with 16 points each while Tabol and de Ramos combined for 22 points as they finally beat the Sea Lions for the first time this season.
