Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta has admitted being helpless in taking action against lawyers cursing in public or in social media.
“What can we do?” lamented the country’s top magistrate.
“Let them enjoy their freedom,” Peralta pointed out.
The Chief Justice responded to the queries of reporters concerning lawyers Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon and Foreign Affairs Secretary Theodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin Jr.
Recently, Locsin posted expletives addressed to a female reporter who tweeted that President Rodrigo Duterte failed to attend the closing ceremonies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit held in Thailand.
Locsin also posted expletives on Twitter addressed to another reporter concerning his attack against the female reporter.
The Secretary has already taken down the Twitter posts.
On the other hand, Gadon was reported to have made a finger and hurled curses to supporters of ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno back in 2018 even though the media was present. (Jeffrey Damicog)
