KAHIT nakahanap ng kaalyado sa ilang mambabatas, mukhang mahihirapan pa rin ang ABS-CBN sa prangkisa nito.
Isiniwalat ni House Speaker at Taguig-Pateros 1st District Representative Alan Peter Cayetano na siya mismo ay may “personal objection” sa franchise renewal ng ABS-CBN.
Sinabi niya sa panayam ng “Headstart,” “People like me, I also have some objections. I’ll tell you, this is my personal (opinion), okay? On one hand, I feel that we have to protect the freedom of (the) press and freedom of expression. On the other hand, I feel that certain instances in history and in the 2016 election na nakialam unjustly some sectors or some leaders of ABS.”
Ganunpaman, pinagdiinan niya na magiging patas pa rin ang pagtalakay nila sa mga nakabinbing panukalang batas sa Kongreso ukol sa pagbibigay ng panibagong prangkisa sa ABS-CBN.
“I’ll just assure the public, whether they are for or against ABS, that we will do it with due process and we will find a conclusion that is acceptable to everyone.”
Sa Marso 2020 nakatakdang mag-expire ang prangkisa ng network, pero giit ni Cayetano, hindi raw priority ng Kongreso ang tungkol dito dahil mas maraming pang bills ang kailangan nilang unahin.
Tungkol naman sa tinuran ng Pangulong Duterte na haharangin niya ang prangkisa ng ABS-CBN dahil hindi nito ginamit ang kanyang ad noong 2016 Presidential Elections, sabi ni Cayetano, “That’s between ABS-CBN and the President…I’m sure may legitimate criticism ang Pangulo.”
