BACOLOD CITY – The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in Western Visayas seized more than P6.8-million worth of suspected shabu and suspected marijuana in separate buy-bust operations here in the past two days.
The most recent operation was conducted at South Capitol Road in Barangay 9 early yesterday, which led to the arrest of three persons and recovery of one kilo of suspected shabu worth R6.8 million.
Police Lt. Thurslie Castillo, RDEU-Negros head, identified the target subject as Ronaldo Roquero Jr. of Talisay City, Negros Occidental; his partner Gerilyn Yabut; and another companion, Alcyn Cuadra, both residents of Bacolod City.
Castillo said Yabut allegedly handed the shabu to a police agent in exchange for the P7,000 marked money while Cuadra served as driver of Roquero’s rented car during the transaction.
Castillo said Roquero was arrested for the same offense but was placed under probation and was released in 2018.
“Roquero can be considered a provincial level high value target because of the big volume of drugs recovered from him,” the RDEU-Negros head said.
He was placed under surveillance for one week after authorities received reports about his alleged illegal drug activities. (Glazyl Masculino)
