Seven Chinese were arrested by the police for allegedly kidnapping a foreign couple in Manila last Friday.
Police identified the suspects as Fen Xiu Tian, 24; Kang Xin Hang, 30; Li Dong, 22; Yao Shu, 22; Li You Bang, 28; Li Bing, 20, and Chan Dang, 28, all residents of Amorsolo corner Dela Rosa Sts., Legazpi Village, Makati City.
On the other hand, the victims were identified as Xu Jun, 30, a Chinese, and Chloe Yuan, 30, a Taiwanese.
Investigation showed the victims were about to check in a hotel on Quezon Blvd. in Quiapo.
However, they learned that it was fully booked, prompting to ask the hotel employee to book them a Grab car to transfer them to another place.
Police said while the couple was waiting for their ride outside the hotel, a group of men “forcibly dragged them” inside a silver Toyota Hi-ace at around 6:20 p.m.
Some people in the area saw the incident and reported to authorities, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victims.
Seized from the suspects were one taser and a knife.
The suspects are detained at the Manila Police District Station 3. They failed to present proof of identity and driver’s license, police said.
