Families and friends alike can now plan their vacations ahead as Malacañang released the list of holidays for the year 2020.
Proclamation No. 845, which listed down the regular and special holidays to be celebrated next year, was released Friday.
Based on President Duterte’s proclamation, the following are declared as regular holidays:
New Year’s Day (January 1, Wednesday), Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9, Thursday), Maundy Thursday (April 9), Good Friday (April 10), Labor Day (May 1, Friday), Independence Day (June 12, Friday), National Heroes Day (August 31 or the last Monday of August), Bonifacio Day (November 30, Monday), Christmas Day (Friday), and Rizal Day (December 30, Wednesday).
Meanwhile, the special non-working days in the first half of the year are the Chinese New Year (January 25, Saturday), the 34th EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary (February 25, Tuesday), Black Saturday (April 11), Ninoy Aquino Day (August 21, Friday), All Saints’ Day (November 1, Sunday), Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion of Mary (December 8, Tuesday), and the last day of the year (Thursday).
Additional special non-working days are All Souls’ Day (November 2, Monday), and Christmas Eve (December 24, Thursday).
According to the proclamation, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) will inform the Office of the President of the actual dates for the observance of Eid’l Fitr (End of Ramadan), and Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).
The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has been tasked to promulgate the guidelines for the proclamation which will take effect immediately. (Argyll Cyrus Geducos)
