Government agencies have been given until Dec. 15 to decide on pending transactions in their offices, President Duterte said, in a bid to hasten the delivery of public service.
The President on Wednesday issued the deadline after expressing dismay with the slow processing of government contracts and other transactions.
“It seems that things are moving very slow. And that is why it is still a source of corruption. The longer you sit on the paper or nothing at all – either you are not working, you are a… I don’t know what you’d do with government,” he said during the 80th anniversary of the Department of National Defense in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
“Even the Cabinet members they have one month to decide. I must have your decision of the papers before you. And I said last night, it has to be Dec. 15. It’s been so many months now,” he said. “Papers that are on your table must be out with a decision. If it is for approval, good. If it is for denial, fine. But let it out,” Duterte insisted.
He bewailed that there were many government contracts, including those in the military, have been pending for two years. “What’s the f*. War cannot wait. War is something which is… It’s an invention of mankind that can cause a spark and then you have the problem,” he said. (Genalyn Kabiling)
