Several road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 1 (Ilocos), and Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) are closed to traffic due to the effects of typhoon “Sarah” (international name “Fung Wong”), the Department of Public Works and Highways said yesterday.
The DPWH said that as of 7 a.m. yesterday, three road sections in CAR, one road section in Region 1, and three in Region 2 are inaccessible due to road cut, road slip, soil erosion, flooding, and unsafe road conditions from the storm.
The DPWH identified impassable roads in CAR as Apayao Ilocos Norte Road, Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, and Apayao-Calanasan-Ilocos Norte Road.
In Region 1, Cape Bojeador Road is closed to light vehicles due to landslide. In Region 2, the impassable roads were Abusag Overflow Bridge, Itawes Bridge, and Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge.
Motorists were advised to take Junction Gattaran-Cumao- Capissatan Road and Sta. Margarita Road as alternate route to the Abusag Overflow Bridge. Travelers who are supposed to use the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge may traverse Daang Maharlika Road via Tuguegarao City.
The DPWH said concerned offices have installed warning signs and dispatched maintenance crew to assist in the flow of traffic in the affected areas. (Erma Edera)
