BACOLOD CITY – A man was brutally killed by his wife’s nephew and brother inside his house in Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Thursday.
Police Staff Sgt. Arnold Gelangre, case investigator of the Sipalay City Police Station, identified the victim as Lito Bawa-an, 58.
Gelangre said Bawa-an was allegedly attacked by Jay-R Bacornay, 24; and his uncle, Bonifacio Tabanao, 46, who are the nephew and brother of the victim’s wife, respectively.
Gelangre said the suspects had a drinking session before they went to the victim’s house around 6 p.m. Then they suddenly hacked and stabbed the victim which caused his immediate death.
Bawa-an sustained multiple hack wounds and his left hand was cut and found outside his house.
The victim’s wife asked help from their neighbors and when police responded, the two suspects continued hacking and stabbing the victim even if he was already unconscious.
The two suspects were arrested and police recovered from the scene a 13-inch kitchen knife and a 20-inch bolo.
Gelagre said the suspects committed the crime out of vengeance after they alleged that the victim killed Tabanao’s brother in 2012.
Both suspects are now under police custody for the filing of murder charges.
The incident happened a day after an eight-year-old boy killed his father out of anger in the barangay last Wednesday. (Glazyl Masculino)
