Authorities discovered several sachets of suspected shabu hidden inside a stuffed toy bag after a buy-bust operation yesterday in Pasay City.
Police arrested Bienvenido Rensales, 52, and his live-in partner, Jocelyn Guillen, 29, who are both under the drugs watchlist.
They are believed to be operating for some time now and are under a high-value drug target based on the amount of suspected illegal drugs they yielded.
Investigation showed that the drug sting was conducted at the house of the suspects in Barangay 148 around 1 a.m. following several weeks of surveillance on Rensales, who was said to be selling drugs in Baclaran.
Police Staff Sgt. Scott Arcilla, investigator-on-case, said that after a transaction with a police poseur-buyer, Rensales was immediately arrested. He yielded a sachet of suspected shabu.
Rensales then told police that eight more sachets of shabu, weighing around 40 grams, were hidden inside a monkey stuffed toy bag. However, he did not admit that it was his. Police pegged the amount of drugs at P275,400.
Also arrested was Guillen, who was allegedly caught sniffing suspected shabu during the operation.
Aside from the illegal drugs, seized from the suspects were an improvised glass tube which was used as a tooter, a digital weighing scale, a lighter, and P500 marked money.
The duo currently detained at the custodial facility of Pasay police anti-narcotics unit might face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, three drug suspects were nabbed by the police in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Quezon City last Friday.
One of the suspects was Jayric Aclado, 34, a resident of Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Police said Aclado was included in the barangay’s drug watchlist.
Quezon City Police District Station 6 (Batasan) were conducting anti-criminality operations in the area when they chanced upon the suspect who seemed to be uneasy while walking on 4th Alley, Kalayaan B at about 10:50 a.m.
Aclado was frisked and yielded six sachets of shabu worth at least P17,000, resulting into his arrest. (With a report from Alexandria San Juan)
