CEBU CITY – The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a 26-year-old woman accused of being a notorious pimp was arrested in an entrapment operation in Bohol last Saturday.
The NBI-Bohol identified the suspect as Jovelyn Olano, of Guindulman, Bohol. Agents of the NBI-Bohol also rescued three women, including a 12-year-old girl.
Olano was arrested in a resort in Tagbilaran City, Bohol past 2 p.m., said lawyer Glenn Damasing of NBI-Bohol. The suspect denied any wrongdoing.
Damasing said they started monitoring Olano after the Guindulman Municipal Social Welfare and Development filed a complaint against the suspect for alleged human trafficking activities.
A separate complaint was lodged against Olano before the Guindulman Police Station in which she was accused of offering the sexual services of a 12-year-old girl to a foreigner.
The NBI-Bohol said the suspect was elusive since she was selective with the people that she transacted with, said Damasing.
During the arrest, the suspect offered the services of a minor for P8,000 to a foreigner. The suspect would charge P10,000 or higher for older women.
The rescued women were turned over to social workers.
It was in the same resort that the NBI-Bohol arrested a 46-year-old woman for the same offense last Tuesday.
NBI-Bohol agents arrested Rosalina Angalot and rescued four women aged between 27 and 40. A series of surveillance was conducted before Angalot, a resident of Tagbilaran, was arrested.
“Investigation revealed that Angalot was engaging in human trafficking activities and her clients were foreigners,” Damasing said.
The two suspects arrested in the separate operations will be charged for violating Republic Act 9208 as amended by RA 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012. (Calvin D. Cordova)
