An Australian passenger was apprehended at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) after a .38-caliber revolver with 10 live bullets were found in his luggage last Monday.
Office Transportation Security (OTS) X-ray operator Sheena Mae Doydoy and baggage inspector Michael Paul Mendoza identified the foreigner as Stanley Wayne.
The Australian was supposed to board the Philippine Airlines PR 2880 bound for Manila, airport authorities said.
Based on report, the security officers saw the image of a firearm inside the passenger’s bag when it passed through the initial screening at the departure area.
During physical inspection, the gun loaded with 10 bullets was found inside the green trolley bag, according to airport officers.
Wayne failed to present necessary documents for the firearm.
OTS officials turned over the Australian and the gun to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Unit for further investigation and proper disposition. (Ariel Fernandez)
