CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Around 500 hills of marijuana worth more than P1 million were uprooted by Caraga police in Barangay Kasapa 1, Loreto, Agusan del Sur yesterday.
Police Regional Office 13 (Caraga) director Police Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. disclosed that the Loreto Municipal Police Station, Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office, Agusan del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 1303rd Regional Mobile Force Company walked for 20 hours from the tactical command post at Valentina patrol base in La Paz, Agusan del Sur to reach the area and found and uprooted the marijuana plants with estimated weight of 19 kilograms.
Most of the uprooted marijuana plants were burned in the area. Samples were taken and brought to Agusan del Sur Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for screening and confirmatory testing, Esquivel said.
Operating police units are still determining the owner of the marijuana.
“Our police are conducting investigation to identify and effect the arrest of the owner of the said marijuana plantation,” Esquivel said.
“We continue to appeal to the members of the community to support the police in our crime prevention and crime solution efforts,” Esquivel added. (Mike Crismundo)
