National University-Nazareth School and Far Eastern University-Diliman kept their 1-2 positions by beating separate foes Wednesday in the UAAP Season 82 Boys’ Basketball Tournament at the Paco Arena.
The Bullpups hiked their record to 5-0 after dealing University of the East a 42-point beating, 91-49, while the Baby Tamaraws hacked out an 80-73 victory over University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs for a 4-1 mark.
“Yun ang objective namin lagi defensive kasi ang mindset namin kasi, yung defense namin yung offense namin,” said NU coach Goldwin Monteverde.
The Bullpups dominated right from the opening tip, outscoring the Junior Warriors, 32-16, in the first frame.
NU utilized all of its players, each scoring at least a point with Kevin Quiambao posting 15 points and 15 rebounds.
The Baby Tamaraws held the Tiger Cubs scoreless in the last 2:06 of the fourth period for the win.
Penny Estacio led FEU with 21 points, five assists and five steals, Jorick Bautista punched in 19 markers built on four triples, while Patrick Sleat added 15 points off the bench.
Meanwhile, Adamson University routed De La Salle-Zobel, 89-57.
Marcus Nitura registered 21 points while Ruzzell Dominguez, Didat Hanapi and Nicole Quinal each have 10 as the Baby Falcons moved to 3-2.
