President Duterte is taking a fearless stand against bullying.
At the awarding of this year’s model overseas Filipino workers’ families in Malacañang Thursday, the President said he has never bullied anyone and would not allow anyone to bully others.
“Maski noong maliit pa ako, I never really wanted ‘yung magkaya-kaya, bullying, mag-bully-bully ka diyan. Kaya ako, marami ako dinaanan sa buhay na hindi maganda,” he said in his remarks. “I never bullied anybody. But I do not want to see anybody bully somebody.”
Duterte recalled that when he was a law student, he once shot a student for bullying other students. He admitted that he almost did not earn his law degree due to the incident.
“Kaya ako, diyan sa law school, may binaril ako diyan dahil bullying. Ayon. Sa classroom binaril ko. College of Law,” he said. “Hindi na sana ako maka-graduate. Mabuti’t na lang ang g***, ‘yung kanya walang lisensya ‘yung baril,” he added, noting that they used to carry firearms before the start of martial law period.
Duterte, a former mayor Davao City, maintained that he detests oppression of the people, particularly injustice against the poor and vulnerable.
“Ayaw ko ‘yang api-api. That maybe one reason why naging mayor ako for the longest time,” he said. “That’s why I stayed for 23 years. Wala akong kalaban. Ang kalaban ko ‘yung mga durugista pati mga kriminal,” he said. (Genalyn Kabiling)
