Malacañang said President Duterte would most likely continue working even during the Christmas break, saying the Chief Executive has been known to be a workaholic man devoted to his job.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said that Duterte would unlikely take a break and continue with his work.
“Si Presidente naman nakikita mo naman walang pahinga. Masyado ngang workaholic ‘tong mama, eh,” he said.
Panelo explained that Duterte’s passion of serving the people hinders him from taking a break.
“Talagang ano siya, eh, napaka-devoted sa kanyang trabaho bilang presidente,” he said. “Sabi niya noon magbabakasyon pero wala rin, eh,” he added.
Malacañang had earlier announced that Duterte would be taking a three-day break in November because the President felt overworked and lacked sleep. However, Panelo said Duterte declined the suggestion of well-meaning friends to have a rest for a few days.
Last year, away from the eyes of the media, Duterte continued with his Christmas tradition to visit pediatric cancer patients in his hometown. Photos sent by Malacañang showed Duterte giving a gift to one of the pediatric cancer patients at the House of Hope, a facility for children with cancer in Davao City. (Genalyn Kabiling)
