The Manila Electric Co. yesterday announced a P0.3044 per kilowatt hour increase this month.
This will redound to an increase of P61 for typical households in the 200 kwh consumption bracket.
This month’s billed tariff will be P9.8623 per kwh from last month’s P9.5579 per kwh.
The utility firm noted that higher prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market in the last supply month ignited the overall increase in the generation charge of Meralco, a pass-through charge owing to volumes procured from suppliers.
For this billing cycle, the generation charge of Meralco inched up to P5.1967 per kwh, which is an increase of P0.1650 per kwh from the November charge of p5.0317 per kwh. (Myrna Velasco)
