Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta said yesterday the Supreme Court’s “Judiciary Help Desk” will also receive and entertain complaints against officials of the Judiciary on top of other inquiries and requests for assistance from the public.
Peralta said all inquires and requests for assistance will be attended to and answered within 15 days “except of course those that will be referred to me – complaints against judges or members of the Judiciary.”
He said complaints against judges or members of the Judiciary will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Peralta said: “I will be receiving (complaints) even from anonymous callers, or even an anonymous complaint, or even just a simple message transmitted to me. I will treat them with strict confidentiality.”
He launched the SC Judiciary Public Assistance Section, also known as the Judiciary Help Desk.
Peralta said the JPAS will serve as the “official line of communication between the Judiciary, its stakeholders, and the general public” and will be under the direct supervision of the Office of the Chief Justice.
The JPAS will have three units. These are the Help Desk Unit, the Hotline Unit, and the Email Messaging Unit. Its hotline numbers are (02) 8526-6185, (02) 8552-9644, and (02) 8552-9646 and its e-mail address is [email protected].
The Help Desk Unit is located on the ground floor of the SC Centennial Building, Padre Faura St., Ermita, Manila, while the Hotline Unit is at the OCJ. These units, including the Email Messaging Unit, will be manned by personnel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, except holidays. (Rey Panaligan)
