Police recovered identification cards that belong to Chinese nationals and documents in Chinese language at the spot where a woman was kidnapped in Makati City on Monday night.
“We retrieved IDs and documents. The IDs belong to Chinese nationals. We found driver’s licenses and police IDs. There were also document in Chinese. We believe that they left these while they were on a hurry kidnapping the woman,” Major Gideon Ines Jr., Makati Police Investigation Unit chief, said early Tuesday morning.
“We strongly believe that the victim is a Chinese national and those behind the kidnapping are also Chinese national,” he added.
The incident reportedly happened along Paseo de Roxas in Legazpi Village, Makati, investigators said.
One of the witnesses was able to take video of the kidnapping incident and it quickly went viral on social media. Other witnesses posted what they saw on Twitter.
When asked why the woman seen on the video was shouting in Tagalog “Tulong! (Help me!)”, Ines explained that some Chinese nationals have learned to speak the language since they have been staying in the country for a long time.
Ines said follow-up investigation is ongoing. (Jel Santos)
