DAVAO CITY – A traffic enforcer investigating a vehicular accident died Thursday afternoon after he was hit by a car driven by a policeman here.
The Talomo Police Station identified the victim as Rey Sison, a member of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), while the police officer was identified as Lt. Julius A. Edpalina, 42, who is currently undergoing training at the Regional Training Center 11.
According to the police report, Sison was investigating a vehicular accident around 4 p.m. along the Bypass Road in Barangay Maa when the incident happened.
Police said the victim was standing at the center of double yellow lane while making a rough sketch of the incident when the car driven by Edpalina suddenly swerved to the opposite lane, hitting him.
Due to the strong impact, Sison was thrown towards the left side rear edge portion of the vehicle he was investigating, causing his death.
The medical team of Central 911 and Ma-a Cares Medical Rescue Team tried to revive the victim but to no avail.
Edpalina has already submitted himself to police custody.
