Most parts of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light rains this weekend due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the State weather bureau said yesterday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.
PAGASA said windy conditions are expected in coastal and mountainous areas in these areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm over Visayas, Caraga, and Palawan.
The State weather agency warned residents in areas affected by the easterlies on possible flash floods or rain induced landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Due to the surge of amihan, a gale warning was raised over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, particularly on the coasts of Batanes, northern Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
