There will be no weather disturbance that may affect the country in the next two to three days, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration yesterday.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the easterlies will continue to be the dominant weather systems across the country until early next week.
The amihan may prevail over Luzon and could bring cloudy skies with light rains in Aurora, Quezon, Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. Coastal and mountainous communities in these provinces may also experience strong gust of wind.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains.
The warm and humid easterlies may bring cloudy skies with rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.
Palawan and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or rain-induced landslides during severe thunderstorms brought about by the prevailing easterlies.
Estareja also noted that due to the surge of amihan, a gale warning remains in effect over the seaboards of extreme Northern Luzon. Fisherfolk and those with small sea craft are prevented from setting sail into the seas of Batanes, Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.
PAGASA does not see the entry or formation of a low-pressure area or tropical cyclone inside the country’s area of responsibility in the next two to three days.
However, Estareja said the State weather bureau is monitoring a cloud cluster east of Mindanao that may bring rains over the southern region in the next few days.
So far, the cloud cluster has a low chance of developing into a low pressure area, he added. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
