BACOLOD CITY – The elder brother of former Bacolod Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan was gunned down Sunday morning by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Estefania here.
Police identified the victim as Roberto Tan, 70, a businessman, of Barangay Villamonte here.
Initial investigation of Bacolod City police showed that the victim was driving a Nissan Sentra on his way home past 9 a.m. when the assailants overtook him and fired their guns at him.
“He was shot six times which caused his death,” police said.
Police are still investigating the incident to determine the motive.
In December 2018, his younger brother, former councilor Tan and his wife Nita survived an ambush at Brgy. Alangilan here.
That year, President Duterte, during his visit in the city, also mentioned the councilor’s name allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, which the latter already denied.
Reports were rife that the former city official and his family left the country. (Glazyl Masculino)
