Sen. Ronald dela Rosa said yesterday that he has yet to find out if his United States visa has been cancelled over his alleged participation in the extrajudicial killings in the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
Dela Rosa, a known ally of President Duterte, said US officials who approved the travel ban on him were “misinformed and misled” if the basis of the cancellation of his US visa was his involvement in the administration’s bloody war on drugs.
“Granting if that is true that the basis of the cancellation of my visa is my involvement in the EJK, then they are very biased. They are misinformed, misled by their informants,” Dela Rosa said.
“Anyway, that’s a privilege na binigay ng ibang bansa. Pasalamat tayo. Ngayon, kung bawal na tayong makapasok, okay lang, pasalamat na rin ako, nakatikim na rin ako ng America a couple of times,” the former Philippine National Police chief said.
Dela Rosa said there are other beautiful countries to go besides the US. “Andyan ang China. Puwede akong maglakad-lakad diyan sa Great Wall of China. Masaya ka na.”
Dela Rosa said he has yet to receive a communication from the US that his visa has been officially cancelled, but has plans to write the US Embassy in Manila to confirm the report.
“Baka mamaya mag tanong ako di pa pala na cancel, bigla nilang i-cancel. So magtatanong ako,” Dela Rosa said. (Hannah Torregoza)
