TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite – This prime tourist destination city has implemented an ordinance banning in the area the so-called “harurot” vehicles or those motorcycles, cars and other vehicles with noisy “tambutsos” (mufflers).
City Ordinance No. 355 Series of 2019 also called for the enforcement of stern regulation of vehicle horn-blowing in areas near schools, hospitals, churches and other worship places in the city.
Officials and residents deemed the ordinance as necessary in a bid to keep the areas serene and free from noise pollution particularly at nighttime.
The ordinance against noise pollution was just one of the measures that the city government implemented in keeping the city a convenient place to live or stay in for residents and tourists in terms of peace and order, health and environment.
The city decree approved was titled “An Ordinance Prohibiting the Use of Motor Vehicles with Modified Mufflers or Those that are Defective Causing Noise, Regulating the Blowing of Horns by All Vehicles Whether Public or Private and Penalizing the Owners or Drivers that Contribute to Noise Pollution Within the City of Tagaytay.” (Anthony Giron)
