A Taiwanese man was rescued by police allegedly after being detained by two Chinese at a hotel in Pasay City on Wednesday night.
Based on a report from the regional police, the victim was identified as Liu Chin-Wei, while the suspects as Liu Ning and Zhu Yizhi.
Police said that Liu was rescued at Room 822 of a hotel in Pasay City around 6 p.m. where he was allegedly detained for about four hours
Police learned that the victim was held by the suspects reportedly after he did not able to pay the R200,000 debt which he lost after playing in casino.
Police added the victim called up his friend to borrow money to pay for his, leading to the discovery of his situation.
The victim’s friend reported the incident to Taiwan embassy, which in turn sought assistance from the Pasay City Police. (Joseph Pedrajas)
