TACLOBAN CITY – A teenager was injured when a bomb kept in a backpack, which he found near a river, exploded Thursday noon in Barangay Rombang, Laoang, Northern, Samar.
Initial investigation showed that the victim and his playmate found a pink backpack containing an unknown explosive while they were playing along the river.
The victim smashed the bag into a coconut tree out of his curiosity, resulting in the explosion.
The victim sustained a serious wound on the portion of the stomach. He was brought to Laoang District Hospital and later referred to Northern Samar Provincial Hospital.
The personnel of Laoang Municipal Police Station are still conducting investigation on the incident. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
