All tropical cyclone wind signals were lifted as typhoon “Ursula” (international name “Phanfone”) moved farther away from Philippine landmass yesterday afternoon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration estimated the location of Ursula at 300 kilometers northwest of Coron, Palawan or 295 kms west-southwest of Subic, Zambales around 4 p.m.
It maintained typhoon strength with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
Ursula is likely to gradually weaken into a severe tropical storm within 24 hours and tropical depression within 48 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said all tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted as Ursula has no more direct effect over the country.
Maritime activities can resume, he added. Sea travel, however, is still risky for small seacraft, over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon due to rough seas.
Estareja also added that the trough or tail of the typhoon could still bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Zambales, Bataan, and the rest of Palawan today.
Improved weather condition is expected in other areas earlier affected by the weather disturbance. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
