The tail-end of cold front will be the dominant weather system across the country as tropical storm “Ursula” (international name: “Phanfone”) had already left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday.
Around 10 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of Ursula at 595 kilometers west of Subic, Zambales or outside the PAR.
The weather disturbance will no longer affect the country.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the tail-end of cold front will be the dominant weather system that may bring scattered light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Aurora.
The tail-end of cold front is the boundary between the cold northeast monsoon or “amihan” and warm easterly winds.
Sea travel could be risky for small sea crafts over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to rough seas caused by the surge of “amihan,” PAGASA warned.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
From New Year’s Eve until New Year’s Day, slightly cooler weather in most parts of the country can be expected as PAGASA sees the “amihan” to surge on Tuesday and Wednesday. (Ellalyn de Vera-Ruiz)
