Not true.
This is what MediaQuest Holdings Inc., owner of broadcast network TV5, said about rumors it will serve as temporary platform for ABS-CBN shows should the network fail in its quest to renew its franchise this year.
Supposedly, the beleaguered network is eyeing the possibility of a three-year rental or buy-out of Media Quest Holdings Inc.
In a statement, MediaQuest president Ray Espinosa clarified Mediaquest and TV5 are not in any talks with ABS-CBN or its owners.
Espinosa admitted however, they are to revamp the network’s programming block next year.
“TV5 and its affiliate, Cignal TV Inc., have developed a holistic content and programming strategy that will allow TV5 to carry relevant entertainment, sports, news, and other content produced or aggregated by Cignal TV which will enhance and enrich the program grid of TV5 starting 2020,” Espinosa said.
ABS-CBN’s franchise is set to expire in March 2020.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to block the network’s franchise renewal.
The network would have to shut down its operations if the bill seeking to renew its franchise is not signed into law. (Rampador Alindog)
